The Association of Civil Engineers of Galicia has awarded this week the San Telmo Prize, which bestows the best engineering work in the Galician community during the last two years.
The award went to the sewage treatment plant of the Lagares river in Vigo, in which G.O.C. performed the supervision and control of the extension works, submarine emissary and electromechanical equipment, in addition to performing the implementation of GIP projects and the analysis of offers and review of the consultative project. The jury has valued the “very important technological innovation”, in addition to its landscape integration and improvements for the quality of life and the environment.
In addition, three runner-up prizes have been granted to other outstanding works of recent years, one of them for the conversion of the Morrazo corridor into a highway where G.O.C. participated in different stages; the most recent, the construction phase carrying out the control and surveillance work of the third section.
G.O.C. participated in two other works awarded by the College of Road Engineers in the last 10 years. On the one hand, the construction management of the general collectors of the Miño River in Lugo, San Telmo Prize for the best civil engineering work in 2009. On the other, the technical assistance to the construction management on the access highway to A Coruña and connection to the Alvedro airport (section Zapateira-highway A5), which received a runner-up prize in 2013.
