G.O.C. will design avenues intersection in Madrid

The municipality of Alcobendas has awarded G.O.C. the constructive design and the study of safety and health for the remodeling works of the intersection of Barajas Avenue with Rafael Nadal Avenue.

Currently, this intersection consists of a 72 m outer diameter roundabout and two-lane ring roads of 8 m wide, with a landscaped central islet of 56 m in diameter. Barajas Avenue allows access to the A-1 road from Alcobendas, through a roundabout under the highway from which it is possible to access the M-12 road that connects with Madrid-Barajas airport and with the R-2 road. It is, therefore, a structuring axis to access the city especially in rush hours with hourly intensities that exceed 1000 v/h in the section between A-1 and Avda. De la Vega.

The project aims to respond to the needs detected at this intersection, which, with the first homes handed over in El Juncal development, is reaching significant levels of saturation and whose forecast will be even more negative when the entire housing state comes into charge.

The works have a total execution period of 22 months and the total cost of the project reaches 7 million euros.
