Madrid-Barajas airport renews its fire detection system

Following the recent award of the work contract, the complete replacement of the old fire detection systems in terminals T123 and annex buildings is underway. The current system will be substituted for an automatic one that will cover the entire building.

These actions are based on the construction design of the new automatic fire detection system that G.O.C. carried out between 2017 and 2019 within the “Obsolescence Plan. Fire Detection T123.- Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport “.

The Obsolescence Plan seeks to solve the deterioration in the detection elements and equipment due to its age, as well as adapting the new regulations and the latest advances in technology. Among other actions, the models of fire stations will be unified to make possible their interconnectivity and the ion smoke detectors will be replaced.

It is expected that the execution of these works will last for the next 41 months, with an execution budget of about 7 million euros.
